Disney in talks to make 'Pirates Of The Caribbean’ reboot with 'Deadpool' writers

Well, this could be interesting.

In a new report from Deadline, it appears that Disney is eyeing the return of the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, and they want the people behind everyone’s favorite “merc with a mouth,” to pen the script.

Per the report, Disney is looking to reboot the beloved franchise with the writing team of  Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who just so happen to be the creative minds behind the first two Deadpool films.

As of right now, the site reports that Disney has met with the two and they are currently in the very early stages of getting a script together for what would be the sixth Pirates Of The Caribbean film.

The article continued by sharing that Jerry Bruckheimer will still continue to be the producer of the franchise, but it is unclear at this time if anyone else will be returning to the film for the rebooted flick.

That last part doesn’t mean just for those working behind the scenes, it also includes the actors. With that piece of information in mind, it means Johnny Depp, who has portrayed Jack Sparrow for the first five films, might not be included in the reboot.

While it’s unclear what this means for the franchise, Deadline points out that bringing it back to life isn’t all that crazy of an idea. Especially once you consider the films have managed to gross $4.5 billion over the course of its existence.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Depp, Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley, who all held majors parts in the franchise’s long history and who all most recently starred in the latest film, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, won’t have a part in the forthcoming reboot.

In any case, we’re pretty excited to see what could come from this possible reboot!
