Nope, we’re not kidding. Monopoly is no stranger to incorporating popular culture into its game design and with over 125 million Fortnite players worldwide, the popular video game is now transcending into the physical form.
The Hasbro and Epic Games collaboration will feature its own, different set of rules to reflect the video game’s craze. Fans can expect to use pieces modeled after their favorite characters. Fortnite Monopoly will not utilize currency but instead will use hit points to determine the winner. Just like the video game, the last player standing wins.
Additionally, properties will be popular Battle Royale map locations and community and chance chests will be replaced with items such as launch pads and spike traps. Dice in the game will be used to both move and perform action.
Creative Director of Epic Games and the creator of Fortnite Donald Mustard took to Twitter to share the news.
