Harry Potter fans believe his scar isn’t actually a lightning bolt
Everyone knows Harry Potter for his lightning bolt scar, but fans of the series have uncovered that Harry’s trademark feature might not be as familiar as we thought.
Harry’s scar is in fact not a lightning bolt, but the hand motion to cast Avada Kedavra. The more you know!

There is debate surrounding the idea as fans cannot prove whether or not that is the official hand motion. Fans noted that Voldemort did appear to be doing the hand motion in the film when he tried to kill Harry. Also, Harry’s scar would appear to be backward from the motion pictured.

So if this is true, then why is the movement NEVER mentioned elsewhere at any point and time? Also, if this is true, why has nothing been confirmed/denied on it yet by @jk_rowling herself?

HAHAH it probs didn’t kill Harry coz Voldemort was stupid and did it the wrong way round ?

A little skeptical. In Book 1 we learn that Dumbledore has a curse scar that is a perfect map of the London Underground above his knee. Don’t think any wand movement is as complicated as that

Maybe the scar is backwards too because of the curse reflecting back onto Voldemort so is not the impact of the curse, but the impact of reflecting it? Just gotta wait for @jk_rowling say on all of this ??

How credible is the picture on the right? Is it from Pottermore?

Author J.K. Rowling did explain in 2007 why she chose the scar’s shape, and it doesn’t support the wand motion theory. She basically just thought it was cool.
“I couldn’t have my hero sport a doughnut-shaped scar,” Rowling said.
Fans are anxiously awaiting for Rowling to confirm or deny the idea.
Either way, it’s a cool theory and if it’s true, it changes our whole perception on Harry. What do you think of this Harry Potter theory? Sound off in the comments.
