Police begin curfew with ‘The Purge’ siren and are shocked by complaints
If you’ve ever seen The Purge, you know the siren noise which marks the beginning and end of the 12-hour crime free-for-all.
That blaring horn sound was recently used by Louisiana police to signal to residents that their curfew hours were beginning and several residents are mad about it being used.

Crowley, Louisiana residents are currently facing a curfew to remain indoors between 9 PM and 6 AM every day due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. If caught breaking curfew, police are giving people a warning before subsequent offences bring fines.
Several videos from over the weekend show the siren sound informing people of the beginning of curfew hours.

Now, the police department is receiving hundreds of complaints about it and over 500 comments on their Facebook post about the siren. Police in the area initially said a different siren than their typical police horns would be used to announce curfew hours.
According to KATC, Crowley Police chief Jimmy Broussard says he had no idea the distinct siren noise was used in a horror film and doesn’t plan on using a siren going forward.
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson had to release a statement separating the area from Crowley’s police department’s decision.
