Now that Disney has completed its merger with Fox, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before Marvel casts a new actor to play Wolverine. Hugh Jackman brought the role to life for nearly two decades, so obviously these are some massive shoes to fill. Some Marvel fans seem to have an idea of who they want to portray the next Wolverine, and that person is none other than Danny DeVito.

Yes, that Danny DeVito.

You’ll recall DeVito from his roles in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Matilda, Twins, When In Rome and many more. Now, there are some who want the actor to add the Wolverine role to his already long list.

A petition was started on Change.com by someone named Ring Arius, calling on Marvel to cast DeVito for the role.

“The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny Devito,” the petition states.

Originally asking for 5,000 signatures, the petition quickly met and exceeded that goal.

Now, they’re asking for 7,500 signatures and at the time of publishing, currently had over 7,200 people wanting DeVito to bring the X-Men role to life.

The ‘Reasons For Signing’ are pretty hilarious, ranging from “It’s fucking Danny DeVito, enough said” to “This is the most important cause I’ve ever supported.”

Will anything come of this petition to Marvel? Probably not, but the cause is entertaining nonetheless.

Would you like to see DeVito play the role of Wolverine? Who else would you like to see fill the role? Sound off in the comments below!

Whitney is your definition of pop punk trash. If she's not jamming to State Champs or Grayscale, then she's probably out enjoying the finer things or working a show for Fearless Records as a Street Team Leader. She's a realist and an optimist, calling the city of Columbus her home. A huge fan of naps, Whitney often falls asleep in a city that doesn't. She's not hard to please, finding joy in discovering new bands or playing Everlong on the late night radio. Working at Alt Press and breaking ground in the music scene have always been a dream of hers, telling herself at an early age she was down for losing it all to make that happen! Now the weekend writer at AP, Whitney is prepared to be noticed and eager to contribute to the scene. If you catch her at a concert feel free to stick around, make small talk, or discuss her overuse of State Champs lyrics and song titles in her bio.
