Metallica's tour might go on until 2020

Metallica are currently on the road on their WorldWired tour. The run has dates scheduled all through next year and it will be hitting North America, the UK, and Europe.

However, it looks like the band aren’t quite ready to end it, and the tour might go on until 2020.

Metallica kicked off the North American leg of their tour in support of Hardwired… To Self-Destruct back in September. The dates run through March of next year.

Additionally, the band will be hitting the road with Ghost and Bokassa with them on a 25-date trek across 20 countries in Europe. The summer tour kicks off May 1 in Lisbon, Portugal and it wraps up a couple of months later on Aug. 25 in Mannheim, Germany.

However, it looks like Metallica aren’t done touring their latest record. That makes sense, since Hardwired… To Self-Destruct came in at the top spot of Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Of 2017.

In a recent interview with the Mercury News, frontman Lars Ulrich revealed there’s a chance the tour will reach into 2020 because they still have some more countries to hit.

“This may just dip into the beginning of 2020,” he says. “We still have to go to Australia. We still have to go to Japan. We have a couple of other things planned after Europe.”

According to Ulrich, the band’s touring schedule is now different because they set boundaries in order to spent more time at home.

“We have a two-week rule, so that after two weeks we come home and see our families and kids and get a sense of San Francisco,” he explains. “So, for about a decade, we’ve had a really good setup in terms of how we balance all of it.”
