Musicians are taking on the Nickelback riff challenge to beat boredom
Musicians are stuck at home just like the rest of us and while some are busy working on new material or playing livestreamed sets, others are taking on the Nickelback challenge.
The Canadian rockers tweeted out the rules for the challenge – pick a Nickelback riff and play it in one take without revisions – and some notable musicians are taking up the challenge or pressuring their bandmates to do so.

The band picked up on the challenge spreading over social media from one of their friends and sent the message to any musicians looking for something to do.
We had a friend tell us about the #NickelbackRiffChallenge. Here are the rules… ? Pick a Nickelback riff and play it. One take, no revisions!

Of course, most of the people posting clips are just huge Nickelback fans but some notable musicians have also gotten in on the fun.
Three Days Grace vocalist and guitarist Matt Walst posted a clip of him giving the challenge a try.
When Matt Walst (@MattJPWalst @threedaysgrace) steps up to a challenge we drop everything and take notice. Thank you Matt. The world is is a better place with you in it and we appreciate you more than we could ever say. Who’s next? Keep them coming. ??#nickelbackriffchallenge pic.twitter.com/yqIB8U6wrx

The Word Alive‘s Tyler Smith really wants his bandmates Tony Pizzuti and Zack Hansen to give the challenge a try but so far no response.
