Nikki Sixx reacts to critics’ negative ‘The Dirt’ reviews
Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has commented on negative reviews by critics about The Dirt.
The biopic about the band, starring Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee, has finally hit Netflix.

The film currently has a 86 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on more than 300 reviews. However, its critical rating, based on 36 reviews, is 42 percent.
Outside of Rotten Tomatoes, many critics have not had the best reactions to the film. The Los Angeles Times called the move “tone deaf.” Also, The Atlantic wrote that the film is dangerous for “showing pigheadedness as not only fun and cool, but also elemental, inexplicable, and unstoppable.”
These reviews are not isolated, as many other news outlets have published similar stories. And, apparently, Sixx took notice of that.
“The album is number #1.The fans are going crazy over #TheDirt. The critics hate it,” he wrote on Twitter.

While the reviews are mixed, there are definitely plenty of fans sharing their love for the movie online.
Absolutely Loved The Dirt! All of them killed it! It’s crazy how they covered all of my man’s tattoos and gave him new ones. And getting to watch his POV on his day on tour was funny. Thank you for being in this movie @machinegunkelly and it was the perfect role for you.#TheDirt

Since the film’s debut, Mötley Crüe released two new tracks from the soundtrack.
The Dirt is based on the group memoir the band wrote in 2001 of the same name. The book was apparently MGK’s “bible” growing up, even though he realizes that might have been a bit problematic.
“When you’re 13, you don’t really understand problems too much, so you’re just looking at all the things that glitter. It wasn’t until we were on set and doing these scenes that we were like, ‘Whoa, this is dark. What are people going to think about this?’” the rapper said. “But there’s something about the truth in that book — the fact that you do fall in love with these people [who] then do this giant nose dive into this dark place.”
The Dirt is available on Netflix now. You can watch the trailer below.
