Presented by Roadrunner Records, Fueled By Ramen, and Jakprints, “Never Give Up: Alternative Press at 30” is an in-depth exhibit that displays the roles of alternative music through the magazine in the past decades while connecting artists to other influencers in the Museum.

“We are thrilled to extend the exhibit and to continue sharing our story about championing underground music and breaking some of the biggest names into the mainstream with many more music fans to come,” founder and CEO of AP Mike Shea says.

Artifacts in the exhibit include letters to the magazine by Henry Rollins; instruments played by members of Paramore, Rancid, Pennywise, and Good Charlotte; and clothing worn by Joan Jett, Jay Bentley of Bad Religion, Jennifer Finch of L7, and Bert McCracken of the Used. A rare 1995 cover photo proof of the Beastie Boys in also on display, as well as other classic covers featuring Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails. Digital content at the exhibit includes cover art from every issue, videos documenting alternative music history, and a video presenting the history of AP. A reading area with AP back issues and AP’s “Top 30 Songs” are presented too.

“With the overwhelmingly positive visitor feedback we’ve heard about the exhibit, we’re thrilled to extend its run,” Rock Hall’s Vice President of Collections and Curatorial Affairs Karen L. Herman says. “We rarely get to focus exclusively on alternative music – and creating this exhibit gave us the opportunity to not only highlight contemporary artists, but to celebrate the magazine that often gave these artists their first national exposure. We’re delighted visitors will have additional opportunities to see how significant alternative music is in rock history.”

Opened in 1995, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum is located in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s mission “is to engage, teach and inspire through the power of rock and roll.”
