Tatiana Hazel tired of being myself

Chicago-native Tatiana Hazel has delivered her first new solo track and official video of 2021. “Tired Of Being Myself” follows the release of her 2020 EP, DUALITY, which centered around Hazel’s resistance to being boxed into one category or label. Now the Latinx artist’s latest single highlights her DIY personality as well as her high-fashion approach to music and visuals, all while a shimmering ’80s synth-wave landscape lures you in.

Set against the L.A. backdrop, “Tired Of Being Myself” was written, produced, recorded, mixed, mastered and directed by Hazel. The visual creates a warm atmosphere highlighting neon overlays of herself dancing on the beach.

“Simply put, this is a song for the weirdos by a weirdo,” Tatiana Hazel says in a press release. “I made the beat for ‘Tired Of Being Myself’ late one night and ended up freestyling most of the lyrics over it mindlessly just to vent. When the song was done and I listened back to it the next day, I was like, ‘Wow, this is what I’ve felt my whole life and could never put into words.’ I’ve never quite fit in anywhere and have always had a hard time connecting with people. I actually love being myself, though, but this is just about those dumb vulnerable moments I think a lot of us have when I wish I could just be normal.’”

Throwing herself entirely into music and fashion design, “Tired Of Being Myself” also follows the L.A. transplant’s announcement of her new band PROM and their debut EP, which was released earlier this year. Whether it’s her solo creations or collaborative work with PROM, Hazel consistently showcases her glossy vocal range against an indie-pop beat.

“Tired Of Being Myself” lyrics

I see your face and I wonder what you’re thinkin’

You look my way

Can you tell that I’ve been drinkin’?

I guess that

I’ll just say “it was really nice to meet ya”

Cause you don’t see me in the same way that I see ya

I’m used to being the best friend

And you’re like a brother

Who says that?

I’ll just wish you the best then

To you and your lover

I’m used to being the weirdo

But you think I’m cool so

Forget that

Tired of being a hero

And acting a fool so

Maybe I just wanna take a break

Make a few mistakes

Make a couple friends along the way

Maybe I just want you for the night

Hit it, say goodbye

Baby I just wanna have a good time

Maybe I just wanna be the one

You hit up for fun

Trust me I know that it’s fucking dumb

But I’m tired of being myself

I come over play we play all our favorite music

And you tell me that you like all of my new shit

And that’s great yeah

So I guess that I’ll try not to read into it

But you lean closer and it causes me confusion

I used to be a heartbreaker

And now my heart’s broken

And I hate that

I used to be a debaser

Avoiding emotion

I’m used to being the friend

You introduce to your girlfriend

And you say that

It’s all good in the end

Cause I’m just one of the bros

Yeah, well

Maybe I just wanna take a break

Make a few mistakes

Make a couple friends along the way

Maybe I just want you for the night

Hit it, say goodbye

Baby I just wanna have a good time

Maybe I just wanna be the one

You hit up for fun

Trust me I know that it’s fucking dumb

But I’m tired of being myself

I try to reach you

I can’t seem to get through

I don’t think this is worth my time

I’ll just forget you

If you want me to

Sorry if I crossed the line

Maybe I just wanna take a break

Make a few mistakes

Make a couple friends along the way

Maybe I just want you for the night

Hit it, say goodbye

Baby I just wanna have a good time

Maybe I just wanna be the one

You hit up for fun

Trust me I know that it’s fucking dumb

But I’m tired of being myself

I’m tired of being myself

I’m tired of being myself
