Tony Hawk’s son fronts new punk band, debuts song—listen

Tony Hawk’s son, Riley Hawk, has started a brand new sludge punk band called Warish.

The three-piece Southern California rockers started playing music at the beginning of this year. However, their sound feels slick and refined upon first listen.

While Riley is a professional skateboarder along with his dad, his latest project looks just as promising.

According to the band’s Bandcamp page, the trio has a very distinct way of describing their sound.

“Imagine if Incesticide-era Nirvana were crossed with Static Age-era Misfits,” the page says. “You’d have sinister low budget horror rock with a visceral, twisted weirdness and bludgeoning riffs. Some might call it nightmarish, we call it Warish.”

Upon realizing that he wanted to fully indulge in the punk scene, Hawk says his goal with Warish somewhat brings punk back to its roots.

“We wanted to do simpler riffs and a fun live show,” Hawk says. “A little more punk, a little bit of grunge… a little evil-ish.”

Yesterday, Brooklyn Vegan premiered the track “Fight.” Check out the song below.
