'Captain America' praising 'Captain Marvel' is exactly what we needed

We’re still in opening weekend for Captain Marvel, but the film is already soaring past its predicted box office projections higher, further, faster than anyone could have expected. Fellow Marvel star and Captain America actor Chris Evans seemed to be just as proud of Brie Larson as the rest of us, taking to Twitter to congratulate the Captain Marvel star on her opening weekend success.

We love legends supporting legends.

As of Friday evening, the film had already pulled in an astounding $88.3 million worldwide. If box office projections hold true, Captain Marvel could cement itself as the seventh-highest opener in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the second-highest debut for a Marvel origin story—just behind Black Panther.

Despite internet trolls attempting to sabotage the film by posting terrible reviews on Rotten Tomatoes before the movie’s debut, Captain Marvel is soaring past its predicted $125 million opening with no signs of slowing down.

Between Thursday’s previews (pulling in $20.7 million) and Friday’s showings (raking in another $61.2 million), Captain Marvel is now predicted to pull in between $145 million and $155 million at the box office for its opening weekend.

Some analysts are even predicting that the film COULD pull in as much as $195 million.

Should its debut break $158 million, it will become the fourth-biggest female-led movie opener.

Captain America‘s Chris Evans took notice of the film’s already impressive numbers (how can you not?) and took to Twitter to congratulate his fellow Marvel star.

“Boom!! Congrats @brielarson well deserved!! #CaptainMarvel

If we had to sum up how this support made us feel in one tweet…

Captain America: The First Avenger pulled in $65 million its opening weekend while Captain America: Winter Soldier raked in $95 million.

Meanwhile, Captain America: Civil War managed to pull in an impressive $179 million during its opening weekend at the box office.
