Rapper refuses to apologize to Demi Lovato following 21 Savage meme comment

Hip-hop artist Wale has shared that he will not apologize to Demi Lovato after he called her out on making light of 21 Savage’s ICE arrest during the Super Bowl. Wale’s latest announcement comes after 21 Savage admitted to actually liking some of the memes that came from the situation.

If you recall, Demi Lovato deactivated her Twitter after she made a joke about 21 Savage. However, much of the internet was quick to shut her down, including Wale, Lil Yachty and Offset.

“So far 21 Savage memes have been my favorite part of the Super Bowl,” Lovato originally tweeted.

Additionally, following 21 Savage’s release from ICE custody, the rapper said he wasn’t offended by the memes.

“Some of them was funny—I ain’t gonna lie,” the rapper says. “I was appreciative of that. I coulda been another person who just, ‘He locked up? Damn,’ and nobody said nothing. Some people, I see why they was mad. It ain’t about the meme, it’s about the bigger picture. But I done been through way worse things in my life than somebody putting me on a meme. I been shot—what is a meme? A meme is nothing. That’s something on the internet that I can do like this [turns over phone] and never see again. I look at bullet scars every day, so it’s like, a meme, bro?”

However, 21 Savage’s response to the memes does not mean Wale is ready to apologize to Lovato. Instead, the rapper says that he never disrespected her in the first place.

A few weeks ago, 21 Savage whose legal name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested by ICE for overstaying his visa. ICE claimed that Abraham-Joseph is originally from the UK.

However, the rapper has since been granted bond and is awaiting a deportation hearing.
