Patrick Stump writing film score for kids-show-turned-horror reboot

Patrick Stump is working on a new soundtrack for the upcoming The Banana Splits Movie, a horror reboot of a popular 1960s kids’ show.

The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was originally a children’s variety program that featured the Banana Splits, a fictional four-piece band of animal characters. The upcoming TV movie, however, gives the plotline a horror twist with the furry creatures going on a murder spree.

Aside from The Banana Splits Movie, the Fall Out Boy frontman has composed several film scores in the past, including Wonderland, Gnome Alone, Spell, Changeland, and a six-part science docuseries, Let Science Speak.

The most recent film, Gnome Alone, also had Stump adding his voice to a character alongside Becky G., George Lopez and Josh Peck.

The release date for the movie is yet to be determined, but you can check out the official trailer for The Banana Splits Movie below.

More on Fall Out Boy

Members of Fall Out Boy have kept themselves busy this year with a myriad of side projects and artist collaborations.

Last month, Bebe Rexha took to Twitter and teased a possible collaboration with bassist Pete Wentz. The two have worked together in the past in Black Cards, which originally started out as Wentz’s electronic project during Fall Out Boy’s indefinite hiatus in 2010.

The tweet sparked reunion theories for Black Cards from fans.

In addition, Stump also made an appearance in a collaboration with Macklemore in Martin Garrix’s “Summer Days.”

The Damned Things, Stump’s bandmates Andy Hurley and Joe Trohman’s side project/supergroup, also released their long-anticipated sophomore album, High Crimes, in April.
