Originally set to kick off in 2020, the event will commemorate the group’s first two decades as well as the release of their ninth full-length album, Interrobang.

The tour launches August 28. Bayside will also make a September 18 appearance at Riot Fest in Chicago, their fourth appearance since 2013. The tour also features support from other genre-defining acts Senses Fail and Hawthorne Heights. In addition, San Diego pop punk band the Bombpops have replaced Can’t Swim as the third act on the bill.

In May, the band first teased an upcoming tour on Twitter after sharing a Las Vegas show scheduled for September 28. Lead singer Anthony Raneri emphasized the information connected to a tour after fans apparently missed the cue. “I thought the hints were clear but maybe not,” Raneri wrote in a tweet. “We are going on tour. Fly to Vegas if you want to go to Vegas but not if you think that’s the only show we’re playing this year.”

During the pandemic, the band released their third stripped-down record, Acoustic Volume 3 via Hopeless Records. In addition to the release, they also performed a livestream anniversary show for their 2010 album Killing Time.

Having released new material on an almost yearly, sometimes semi-annual, basis, fans can expect a lot from the upcoming tour.

“While many bands would coast on their past success,” the band wrote in a press release. “Bayside rejects the premise and proves time and again that the best is yet to come.”

As a celebration for their longevity, the 21 Years Of Bad Luck tour promises a “career-spanning set” featuring tracks old and new from across their diverse discography.

With a devoted following, Bayside are consciously aware of their role as a genre-defining group. To find local openers for the tour, the group hosted a battle-of-the-bands in 2019 for up-and-coming artists.

“More than anything, we want to stoke out the bands because that’s what we needed when we were younger,” Raneri said in a 2019 interview. “It wasn’t so much opportunities. It wasn’t so much a big break as it was we needed to keep going. We needed to keep trying.”

“A lot of times when you’re starting out as a band and a lot of your shows aren’t that well attended, you start to feel like you’re spinning your tires and not going anywhere and all this sacrifice isn’t paying off,” Raneri continues. “But then you get in front of a bunch of people and you play your music, and [if] they like it, that tells you as a band you’re doing the right thing—that spark is really important for young bands just to keep going.”

Raneri acknowledges the difficult path that led to the newly announced tour.

“We had to rebook this tour four times and that’s only going to make it sweeter when it finally happens,” Raneri says. “Can’t wait to finally get a chance to celebrate our milestone with good friends and the best fans.”

Senses Fail taking “bitch,” “whore” out of re-recordings, sparks debate https://www.altpress.com/senses-fail-bitch-whore-hand-guns-bastard-son/ Wed, 12 Dec 2018 03:39:43 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/senses-fail-bitch-whore-hand-guns-bastard-son/ Senses Fail have announced that they are taking a few choice words out of fan favorites such as “Bastard Son” and potentially “Hand Guns” in their respective forthcoming re-releases. While this news comes as a comforting joy to some, many other fans do not appreciate the change.

On Monday, Senses Fail asked fans how they would feel if they were to ever-so-slightly change the lyrics to “Hand Guns.” The change would omit the word “whore.” After garnering over 100 responses, the band announced that they would additionally be taking the word “bitch” out of the chorus in “Bastard Son.”

Since tweeting their decisions, many hostile Twitter users are accusing the band of being “soft” and too politically correct. However, according to Senses Fail, using sexist language doesn’t make anyone look tough.

On the flip side, some Twitter users are accusing the band of trying to “cover-up” their use of the words through the re-recordings. However, Senses Fail assure fans that they couldn’t get rid of the originals even if they tried.

Senses Fail then backed up their decision by citing personal growth. The band additionally explained that just because something makes you feel emotional, that doesn’t automatically mean the context is morally correct.

“If something can be changed to hopefully not make someone feel like shit why not choose the thing that doesn’t hurt someone,” the band say. “Being anti PC is such a triggered response. You’re triggered in the same way you’re upset at other people for being triggered.”

With that being said, the band have told fans that if they care deeply about the originals, they will still be able to listen to them any time they want.
