See Turnstile bring out Julien Baker for “UNDERWATER BOI”

Turnstile played Rock En Seine in France earlier today, and the hardcore crew brought out a surprise guest for “UNDERWATER BOI.” Julien Baker, who contributes vocals to the song on the album, came onstage to jam out to the GLOW ON hit, as she’s also playing the festival with her band boygenius later on.

The collaboration makes perfect sense, as Baker performed in a ton of heavier bands around her hometown of Memphis before she transitioned into making frank, tender songs as a solo artist. She plays guitar in the punk band Wicker occasionally (and even has a tattoo of the band, as revealed in the Nardwuar video) and contributed to the Armed’s Perfect Saviors that’s out today. Check out the fan-shot footage, which is totally heartwarming to watch as Baker bounces around onstage and takes turns belting out harmonies with frontman Brendan Yates.

Turnstile also recently linked up with BADBADNOTGOOD for their New Heart Designs EP, which reimagined three GLOW ON songs. Next, they’ll make stops at several festivals, including Riot Fest, Furnace Fest, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw.
