UPDATE: July 21, 2019 2:22 p.m. EST
blink-182 fans may have found a weird new tradition that involves gifting the band license plates in hopes of getting some gear.
Mark Hoppus has tweeted that another fan gifted him a license plate at a show.
“this happened again today. it’s NOT going to become a thing. it’s totally going to be a thing, isn’t it?” Hoppus wrote. It definitely is going to be a thing.

One blink-182 fan was given the ultimate VIP experience in Virginia Beach after vocalist Mark Hoppus gifted him his bass in exchange for the fan’s NC license plate.
No, we’re not kidding.

Reddit user Hi_Im_Joee shared his incredible experience. He shared with users how the whole “BLNK 182” license plate ordeal occurred.
“So I had the NC plates and also VA,” he explains on Reddit. “In 2016 Mark signed my VA plates so I figured I’d give him the NC one. He said ‘cool! I collect them! I’ll tell you what I’ll trade a bass for it’ and then I shit myself.”
He included pictures of the bass, which you can see below!

There’s also a post of Hoppus holding his recently acquired North Carolina blink license plate.
To make it even better, blink even signed the bass.
