‘Jackass 4’ set to destroy theaters for first time since 2010
This will be the fourth film in the Jackass series, in addition to three seasons of the television show.
Jackass 3D released in 2010 and since then, the only Jackass related film we've had is Knoxville's Bad Grandpa. That means its been nearly a decade since the lovable band of misfits graced our screens altogether in theatrical form.
Jackass 4 will also be the first film in the franchise without Ryan Dunn after he tragically passed away in 2011. But who knows? Maybe this new Jackass film won't feature any of the originals members including Steve-O or Bam Margera at all.
Paramount Pictures has been very limited with the details. Since the original cast is all middle-aged at this point, perhaps we'll see the old-timers mentor a young new generation of jackasses into stardom. Either that, or we get to watch a bunch of forty-somethings hit each other in the balls. We're fine with either.
Rumors have been circulating that the main cast would be interested in doing another movie for years, but came slightly closer to happening earlier this year when Johnny Knoxville posted a picture of the stuntmen reunited.
According to an interview with Loudwire, Chris Raab, formerly of Jackass and CKY has interviewed almost every Jackass member on his Bathroom Break Podcast, including Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Bam Margera, Dave England, Weeman, Ehren McGhehey, Rake Yohn, Rick Kosick and director Jeff Tremaine.
“I get the feeling that everyone’s pretty interested in it,” Raab says. “I’m not sure that it would ever happen. Ryan [Dunn] was a huge part of that, so it’s sort of weird without him. I feel like if Tremaine and Spike [Jonze] and Knoxville said, ‘Hey, let’s do it,’ then I imagine it would go forward. If they were to say it, I don’t think there would be pushback from others.”
Unfortunately, original star Bam Margera is going through a difficult time due to his mental health and addiction. There is no telling if he will be able to film a new movie or not.
The only detail we know for sure about Jackass 4 is that it's expected to hit theaters March. 05, 2021.
The Jackass films have currently raked in over $335 million at the box office so greenlighting a sequel is a good move.
