MGK, YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker fight off zombies in “acting like that”
The collab is off of YUNGBLUD's new album 'weird!'January 21, 2021
On Thursday, Machine Gun Kelly, YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker finally unleashed their zombie-filled music video for “acting like that.” The collab is the latest of many to come from the trio over the past few years.
Back in 2019, the trio unleashed the platinum-certified hit “I Think I’m OKAY” and later collaborated with 24kgoldn for a cover of Sublime‘s “What I Got” on The YUNGBLUD Show. They also teamed up with the Used’s Bert McCracken for “body bag,” which appears on the extended version of Tickets To My Downfall.
For the zombie apocalypse “acting like that” video, MGK, YUNGBLUD and Barker can be seen performing the track while zombies slowly close the distance between them. With MGK and Barker protected by a chain-link fence and YUNGBLUD stranded on a double-decker bus, no one is safe in the “acting like that” video. However, the visual ends on a truly surprising note no one will expect.
“This song is a direct representation of what happens when me, MGK and Travis get in a room together,” YUNGBLUD says. “An accumulation of mad electricity and energy. We couldn’t be together right now so instead of super imposing one of us in a weird green screen video we did zombie apocalypse.”
The “acting like that” video isn’t the only new project to arrive from MGK and Barker. Last week, the Tickets To My Downfall inspired musical Downfalls High finally premiered. The film, which was co-directed by Mod Sun and MGK and features Barker, had a very successful opening weekend as over 16 million people tuned in. Downfalls High is now available to watch in full on YouTube.
Machine Gun Kelly recently opened up about the tragic love story at the forefront of Downfalls High to James Corden on the Late Late Show. As well, ahead of his “concerts for aliens” performance, he shared a recent encounter he had with UFOs that has further made him a believer.
Shortly after the September release of Tickets To My Downfall, Barker and MGK entered the studio together to work on even more new music. Last fall, Machine Gun Kelly even revealed that he hopes to release another new album in 2021. Similarly, YUNGBLUD announced on an Instagram Live earlier this month that he is almost finished with a follow up to weird!.
“I’m in the studio,” he said. “We’ve been locked down here. I’ve been so mad-creative, I’ve literally nearly got another album done, which is just fucking mental. I can’t wait for you to see.”
