‘The Umbrella Academy’ season 2 trailer is arriving sooner than you think

Since fans learned that The Umbrella Academy is returning to Netflix for its second season on July 31, they have been awaiting the new season’s trailer.

Over the past few months, The Umbrella Academy has been dropping some massive hints about the show’s second season. At the end of May, The Umbrella Academy’s social media accounts shared a short clip with the caption “Have you seen the Hargreeves? time travel composites coming tomorrow…” Then, at the start of June, the series teased it would be a bit longer until fans got to see the new trailer.

Following this, in mid-June, Netflix revealed the official synopsis for season 2 along with some new photos. The images and details behind the upcoming episodes gave more insight into where and when the Hargreeves ended up. As well, the photos reveal some new characters are joining season 2.

Then, at the end of June, Netflix unveiled a new poster for the season. The new poster follows up some other images we saw back in February. It also seemingly reveals a few details about the possible fate of The Umbrella Academy characters. This caused fans to start speculating about what could happen to their favorite dysfunctional family.

Now, Way has revealed when the highly-anticipated season 2 trailer is finally arriving. The My Chemical Romance frontman took to social media to reveal that the trailer is out on July 8.

The video teaser features Robert Sheehan who plays Klaus in the Netflix series. Towards the end of the video, the words “trailer tomorrow” appear on his hands.

The Umbrella Academy‘s first season encompasses much of Way and Gabriel Bá’s volume 1 Apocalypse Suite. Season 2 drops the Hargreeves off in the namesake of volume 2, Dallas.

In addition to tracking down the Hargreeves siblings in the 1960s, season 2 includes some brand new characters. In September, we were introduced to three non-comic additions: Texas housewife Sissy (Marin Ireland), Lila (Ritu Arya) and Raymond (Yusuf Gatewood). The new synopsis also teases “a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins” portrayed by Tom Sinclair, Kris Holden-Ried and Jason Bryden.

Along with Sheehan, Justin Min, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher and Emmy Raver-Lampman are all returning for season 2.

All 10 episodes of season 2 hit Netflix on July 31. You can see the official synopsis below and new photos here.

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right—the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which—spoiler alert!—turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.

UPDATE: JULY 7, 2020, 6:00 P.M. EST

After revealing the trailer would be arriving tomorrow, both The Umbrella Academy and Way shared an illustration of the vocalist. With it, it reads, “we got a love that’s bigger than World War Three” and “Here Comes The End.”

The second slide shows the My Chemical Romance frontman in the studio, suggesting that this could be a Way song for the new season. Last year, he recruited Ray Toro to cover Simon and Garfunkel’s “A Hazy Shade Of Winter” and the Turtles’ “Happy Together” for season 1.
