Earlier this month, Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello praised 10-year-old viral musician Nandi Bushell‘s RATM cover in support of Black Lives Matter.

Following her performance of “Guerrilla Radio,” Morello decided to surprise Bushell with not only a video message of encouragement, but also a brand new Tom Morello “Soul Power” Fender Stratocaster.

Bushell has grown in popularity recently over her incredible cover performances of Nirvana, Royal Blood, Queens Of The Stone Age twenty one pilots and, of course, Rage Against The Machine. At just 10-years-old, Bushell can play instruments including the guitar, bass and drums.

The viral musician is also clearly a big fan of Morello’s. In a recent video, “soul power” can be seen written on one of her guitars, a clear tribute to the guitar Morello famously used during his time in Audioslave.

After sharing his praises to Bushell over her “Guerrilla Radio” cover, Morello decided to reach out to Bushell and give her a gift. Along with a message filled with words of encouragement, Morello gifted Bushell one of his signature Fender “Soul Power” Stratocasters. He hopes that the gift will allow Bushell to keep building up her skills and sharing her music covers.

“I’d like you to have this guitar as a gift from me to you because you rock so great,” Morello says in a video message. “And to see someone rocking so great who is so young, it really gives me hope for the future. I didn’t start playing guitar until I was 17 years old, so you are way, super-far ahead of me, and I look forward to hearing a lot more of your music in the future. You’ve got a lot of soul, and here’s a little Soul Power to go with it. Keep it up!”

Bushell’s reaction to receiving the message and Fender Stratocaster from Morello was caught on tape.

“Wow, from the actual Tom Morello” she says. “Thank you so, so, so much for this beautiful guitar. I can’t wait to jam with you!”
