It looks like the ‘Twilight’ book series might not be over just yet
Twihards are still recovering from the recently released Midnight Sun. The Breaking Dawn follow up is a retelling of the first Twilight book in Edward's perspective. Meyer previously shared that writing Midnight Sun was anxiety-inducing and incredibly difficult to finish. As well, she revealed that the new book may change fans' perspectives on some of the series' most beloved characters.
Meyer also said that she doesn't plan to write any more retellings from Edward's perspective. Some interpreted her comment as her way of saying that the Twilight series is done for good.
“This is it for Edward,” she says. “Writing from his point of view makes me extra anxious. And the experience of writing this book was not a super pleasant one. So no, I wouldn’t want to do that — especially given that New Moon would just be a nightmare of depression and emptiness.”
However, now it looks like things aren't quite over yet. In a new interview, Meyer reveals that she plans to write more Twilight books in the future.
“There are two more books I think in the world that I want to write," she shares. "I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it’s there. I am not ready to do that right now, I want to do something brand new.”
For now, Meyer plans to work on projects outside of Twilight. Although Twihards are dying for a new book in the series already, it seems they don't mind waiting for one to come around. 12 years after Breaking Dawn's release, its follow up Midnight Sun sold over one million copies in its first week.
Even though Midnight Sun has been out for less than two weeks, there's already talks about a film adaptation. Last month, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke shared her thoughts on a possible Midnight Sun film. She also revealed if she thinks Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would return for a sixth movie.
It is also a special day in the Twilight universe. Aug. 13 marks Bella and Edward's wedding anniversary.
The wedding scene is available to watch below.
