‘The Umbrella Academy’ fans want Five to be named after MCR member
After realizing that many fans wanted Number Five to have a real name in Gerard Way’s Netflix adaptation of The Umbrella Academy, the show jokingly took to Twitter to ask fans what they should refer to him as in the future.
Of course, it wasn’t long before My Chemical Romance fans flooded the replies. Due to the similar nature of both the character and Frank Iero, MCR’s rhythm guitarist, it seems as though most people want Five to become his namesake.

However, other fans of The Umbrella Academy suggested that Five take on a more subtle version if Iero’s name. That said, many have urged the show to rename him “Anthony” or “Thomas” after Iero’s middle names.

Oddly enough, the name suits the character. After all, the pair share a plethora of qualities including their height and cynicality.
Additionally, a few stragglers want Five to take on the name either “Istanbul” or “Constantinople,” after the They Might Be Giants song that plays during his iconic fight scene.
