This season is all about giving, and the bands we obsess over all year long often host holiday concerts during this time of year to give something back to their communities. While some such as Every Time I Die have made it a tradition for well over a decade, others such as August Burns Red are just joining in on the fun with massive events to support local charities.
Take a look below for some of the best holiday shows to hit up before the year is over.
1. August Burns Red
August Burns Red have become one of the go-to metalcore bands when people think of the holiday season through their festive songs, but this year they’re unveiling a Christmas festival you won’t want to miss. The band will be bringing out Miss May I, Currents, Like Moths To Flames and more to Lancaster, Pennsylvania Dec. 21. Tickets are available here.
2. Every Time I Die

Every Time I Die’s ’Tid The Season holiday show rolls through Buffalo every year, and they have a stacked lineup for their 15th edition of the event. On Dec. 13 and 14, the band will be joined by Against Me!, Glassjaw, Terror, Harm’s Way, Ghostface Killah, SeeYouSpaceCowboy and more. Seaway are bringing back their annual Holiday Shaker for a fourth year, and Toronto is in for a sweet night of pop punk to cap off the decade. The event will see performances from Like Pacific, the Drew Thomson Foundation, LURK and an unannounced special guest Dec. 22.
4. The Lawrence Arms

The Lawrence Arms are playing their War On X-Mas for a fifth year, running from Dec. 12-14. This year, they’ll be bringing along the Flatliners, Red City Radio, Arms Aloft, Riverboat Gamblers and Heart & Lung to Chicago for three days of festive fun.
5. Snowed In

Cleveland’s annual Snowed In winter festival will celebrate its seventh year at the Agora Theater Dec. 20. This year’s event features State Champs, Grayscale, Hot Mulligan, Sleep On It and more for an evening of pure pop-punk bliss. State Champs and Grayscale also have a handful of other holiday shows around Snowed In including Detroit Dec. 19 and Frozen Fest in Clifton Park, New York Dec. 21 and 22.
6. Black Christmas

Black Christmas, Detroit’s annual holiday bash, returns to the Majestic Theatre Dec. 21. This year’s lineup features performances by Suicide Machines, Anti-Flag, Mustard Plug, the Homeless Gospel Choir and more.
7. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Do Christmas

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes have a handful of Christmas tunes under their belt, and the punk cover supergroup are bringing their raucous tunes to California this season. The band will be playing multiple holiday shows throughout December, which you can find details for here.

Sure, Cyndi Lauper probably doesn’t fit with most of the bands on this list, but her holiday show this year is getting some guests from both metal and hardcore. The pop star’s annual holiday benefit concert will see performances from Marilyn Manson and Henry Rollins among other artists, with proceeds going toward Lauper’s True Colors United organization.

Punk rockers the Vandals have been hosting a “winter formal” event for over two decades now, and they’re back for another round in Anaheim Dec. 21 to give fans a show to cap off their year with. They’ll be joined by the Aquabats performing a tribute set to the Cure.

Before hitting Cleveland’s Snowed In, Sleep On It are bringing their Chicago hometown some holiday cheer with their own celebratory show, which will include Bearings, Young Culture and Better Love Dec. 14. Fans who come with an unopened package of socks will also get first pick on the band’s holiday merch to support the Chicago Coalition For The Homeless. The band will also be teaming up with Dancing Gnome Beer to sell a Pride & Disaster American Ale inspired by their album. Tickets are available here.
