Entertainment Weekly confirmed Longoria’s attachment to the film which will serve as a biopic about the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos inventor.

DeVon Franklin (Breakthrough) will produce the movie through a deal with Fox. The film is expected to be a Fox Searchlight title.

Rumors of the forthcoming film began circulating early last year. You can read a synopsis of the film below.

The film follows Montanez, the son of an immigrant, who grew up as a migrant farmworker picking grapes in the fields of Southern California before becoming a janitor at Frito-Lay. It was while working at the company that Montanez came up with the idea to create Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, transforming the Frito-Lay brand into a pop culture phenomenon and disrupting the entire food industry in the process. Now commonly referred to as the Godfather of Multicultural Marketing, it was that initial idea that would spark a billion-dollar brand and catapult him from janitor to elite corporate executive.

The film will add to Longoria’s list of directed pieces which includes episodes of Jane the Virgin, Black-ish, and Grand Hotel.

Charlie St. Cloud and October Sky’s Lewis Colick wrote the script.

Currently, the film does not have a set release date.

More on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Last year, rapper Lil Xan confused the internet after being hospitalized for eating too many Hot Cheetos.

“I went to the hospital today, [and I’m] getting ready to pack for this tour,” he said in an Instagram post. ”I just want everyone to know I was in the hospital not due to any drugs, but I guess I ate too many hot cheetos.

“It ripped something in my stomach open, so I puked a little blood, [but] we good,” Xan explained.

In an interview with TMZ about the “Cheetogate” scandal, the 22-year-old rapper talked about his experience in the hospital and later admitted that he is back to eating the cursed snack.

“I’m a big Hot Cheeto fan,” Xan said. “I’m still not completely better yet. It was just one bag — just ONE bag. I was drinkin’ soda. I have a really bad diet.”

The rapper claimed to have felt sick for the next four days. Despite his wariness, he consumed another bag of Crunch Chili Lemon Cheetos only to “vomit a little blood.”

“Yeah man, Cheetos are dangerous,” Xan said. “They’re one hell of a drug.”
