twenty one pilots have spent much of 2019 touring in support of last year’s Trench. With the Bandito tour starting in 2018 and running through this year with several one-off and festival appearances, it’s no wonder the band secured a spot on Billboard’s year-end lists as one of the top-grossing tours of 2019.

In September 2018, the band made their return to the stage following a year-long hiatus. They were welcomed back in London for an intimate club show, A Complete Diversion. A month later, they kicked off the Bandito tour’s first leg with Max Frost and AWOLNATION.

The band began the year in Europe with the Regrettes before returning to the U.S. for leg two in May supported by Bear Hands. Between leg two and three, the band squeezed in some festival appearances including Reading & Leeds and Lollapalooza Berlin (where Tyler Joseph revealed his wife Jenna is expecting). twenty one pilots kicked off the Bandito tour’s third leg with Misterwives in October and wrapped it up mid-November.

With most of the year on the road, Billboard reports twenty one pilots comes in at No. 36 in their Top 40 Tours. The band’s tour grossed $49.1 million with 726,952 members of the Clique attending 62 total shows.

Rolling Stones, Metallica, Paul McCartney, KISS, Jonas Brothers, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Mumford & Sons, Queen with Adam Lambert, Drake, Ariana Grande and more also snagged various spots on the list.

More on twenty one pilots

twenty one pilots drummer Josh Dun is approaching one year since proposing to longtime girlfriend and actress Debby Ryan. While the couple hasn’t disclosed any details regarding wedding plans since then, we do know one of the drummer’s guests won’t be able to make it as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hit him back on Twitter.

Clearly a fan of the wrestler-turned-actor, Dun has reached out to Johnson for advice in the past. Back in 2015, he tweeted, “@TheRock hate to ask but can I get a little encouragement on this beard I’m trying to grow? this is so hard to do.”

Johnson was happy to oblige, telling the drummer, “Yes just stay focused and give beard rides often. I hear that promotes hair growth. Good luck bud.”

Four years after bonding over beard-growing, Dun has returned to Twitter to invite Johnson to his wedding with a simple “hey would you want to come to my wedding?”

Obviously a busy man just like Dun, The Rock respectfully declined his invite but offered up some advice.

“Thanks brother and congrats. I can’t make it but remember the most important 5 words – ‘yes honey you are right’ Trust me. #tattooedyoda 👊🏾
