Christmas music is one of the most divisive topics out there. There are people who immediately channel their inner Mariah Carey once Halloween winds down into the first day of November. And there are those who can’t stand festive tunes no matter how hard they try. And then there are Waterparks, who definitely have some hot takes from both stances.
Just before touring was halted due to the pandemic, Waterparks chatted with Alternative Press from the Cleveland stop of their FANDOM tour with DE’WAYNE and Kitten. They dished on their favorite deep cuts and incriminating Google search history. And they even reacted to APTV’s classic “Waterworks With Waterparks” video four years later.
But the band didn’t stop there as they discussed their favorite (and least favorite) Christmas songs. Guitarist Geoff Wigington and drummer Otto Wood traded opinions on some classic tunes such as “Jingle Bell Rock,” “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “The First Noel.”
“I’m sticking with Michael Bublé. He owns Christmas. Michael Bublé is more important for Christmas than Santa fucking Claus,” Knight says to both the camera and his bandmates. “Hot take—your silence says it all.”
This isn’t the first time Knight has divulged his love of the singer’s festive discography with the Waterparks frontman shouting him out in 2018 and 2019. And back in 2015, he shared (in all caps, of course) that Bublé’s cover of Carey’s classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” tops his favorites.
