Hayley Williams felt like “a failure” during post-divorce announcement set
Hayley Williams recently offered a bit of background on a video posted of one of her performances with Paramore. The singer shared that the show was the night after she announced her divorce. Williams says she was not in a great place and says the crowd made the whole thing much better.
Hayley Williams is currently kicking ass with her new solo material Petals For Armor that drops May 8.
“The two of us have been together for the better part of 10 years. We’ve grown up together and we’ve been beside each other through a lot of goodness and a lot of challenges,” the statement reads. “There is a challenge to trying to understand your own heart in the context of a relationship… and there is goodness in considering another heart, even in spite of your own. Marriage is not for the faint of heart. Love is an absolute risk. And it’s up to each of us to stay hopeful even when the outcome isn’t what we’d originally hoped for.”
“Love is an absolute risk,” it continues. “We want to publicly state — plainly, and only this time — that we are splitting up. We also feel it’s important to state that we are going to be okay and in fact, we remain close friends who are good in each other’s eyes.”
That was posted on July 1, 2017.
Recently, a fan shared a video of Hayley Williams rocking the house on stage. Hayley Williams saw the video and provided some background on the footage.this show was in Berlin, the night after i had to ~announce~ my divorce. i felt like a fucking idiot, a failure, and i was also a lot bit tipsy. i wish the camera was pointed toward the crowd here bc they were so welcoming and made me feel safe/celebrated. unforgettable night
Williams sent a followup tweet also thanking her bandmates for the support and for sounding so damn good.also shouts to my bandmates for loving me through that time and also sounding solid af in this video. (what’s new tho?)
Speaking on why she’s releasing the album in parts, Williams’ said she wants fans to experience it the way she did.
“There are a lot of themes covered on the album as a whole and I thought it best to separate some of these themes so that there can be time for everyone to digest some of the songs before we move along to others,” Hayley says of PETALS FOR ARMOR I. “It’s a way to include people on the journey in the same way that I experienced it.”
The full 'Petals For Armor' releases on May 8. Preorders can be found here. While you wait, check out her first incredible solo single "Simmer" below.
