Killswitch Engage unleash new song, reveal upcoming album details
Killswitch Engage announced a new album and a brand new single to give fans a taste of what it sounds like.
Atonement will be the band’s eighth full-length album. It will drop August 16.
The announcement comes after the band heavily teased fans that something big was coming.
Previously a rough release date for the record has been established, the band shared a teaser on Twitter highlighting June 25 as a date of interest.
At the time, the band gave only one other detail for what’s to come captioning the post with “Unleashed.”You can check out the teaser below.
The first song is called “Unleashed.”
“‘Unleashed’ is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface,” singer Jesse Leach said in a statement. “We all have that wild within that often stays dormant until a tragic event triggers and awakens it. This song is about that awakening within.”
“I feel we were able to capture something raw and intense on this song and I”m stoked for everyone to hear it,” Leach continued. “The new album Atonement is a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence.”The band announced the album and the new song on Twitter, and you can see both announcements below as well as hear the new song.

Prior to the announcement and the teaser, the last substantial details concerning the new album came from bassist Mike D’antonio and guitarist Joel Stroetzel last month.
During an interview with The Edge at Welcome To Rockville earlier this month, D’antonio revealed in an interview that the album had finally been mastered.
“We finished recording, finally, we finished mastering, finally, for the new record, so it’s going to be out in the fall,” he says.
In a separate interview with Wired In The Empire, the bassist share that the band had actually recorded too many songs.
“We actually recorded too many songs. It kind of threw Jesse for a bit of a loop. We had, like, 22, 21 songs that we actually completed all the music for except for vocals, and then it was time to sit down and do it, and it, like, fried his brain. It took a little while longer to write the record and finish the record. I think we did, like, maybe 17 tunes with vocals, and there are still a few left over that we’re going to save for a little bit later. The record’s not going to have that many, for sure. We’ll have some extras to play with and figure out something to do. We’ve narrowed down the track listing; we are mixing now, and all systems [are] go to get it out for 2019.”
