The band’s first two albums, Calculating Infinity and Miss Machine, are celebrating their 20th and 15th anniversaries this year and to go along with it they’re getting vinyl reissues.

The two records are incredibly influential to metalcore and hardcore as a whole with Calculating Infinity acting as one of the founding albums for mathcore and Miss Machine marking a huge shift in their style.

Limited edition super deluxe pressings of both albums will hit stores on November 29th via Relapse and can be pre-ordered here. They’re also rolling out new shirts, hoodies and more that you can order as well.

In case you’re unfamiliar or just want to listen to the records again, check them out below.

For Calculating Infinity‘s 15th anniversary, we spoke to members of Man Overboard, Night Verses, Hawthorne Heights and more about what the album meant to them in their discovery of heavy music.

The band also reissued their debut EPUnder The Running Board, back in 2016.

“I’ll never forget the first time we started jamming on what would become the first song off that EP,” guitarist/band founder Ben Weinman tells AltPress. “The song many consider paved the way for the Dillinger sound. ‘The Mullet Burden’ was our version of what we thought was heavier and more jarring than anything we had heard previously. That was really our goal: to make all other noisy, heavy bands look like elevator music. I’m still really proud of the music we produced back then and it’s exciting for some of our newer fans to be able to get this thing in their hands.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers reissue ‘Californication’ picture disc for anniversary https://www.altpress.com/red-hot-chili-peppers-californication-anniversary-reissue/ Sun, 09 Jun 2019 23:51:54 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/red-hot-chili-peppers-californication-anniversary-reissue/ Red Hot Chili Peppers are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic album Californication in a very special way.

The band’s album came out June 8, 1999, and gave us songs like “Californication,” “Otherside” and “Around The World.”

Now, the band is releasing a picture disc reissue of the record. It includes all 15 songs and is available for $29.99 here. It’s currently in pre-order because it won’t officially release until September 13. You can see what it looks like below.

Along with the reissue, there’s a new shirt for the album for the same price. Check that out here.

More Red Hot Chili Peppers news

Earlier this year, the band covered “Pyramid Song” by Radiohead at the actual pyramids in Egypt.

Yes, that’s right. Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer did a piano rendition of the song to start the band’s encore performance.

The band actually live-streamed the entire concert that took place right in front of the pyramids of Giza.

In other news, RHCP’s Flea recently entertained the crowd at a Tasmanian gig by doing handstands after a power outage halted their set. You can see a photo of that below.

The band also performed at the Grammys with Post Malone.

Malone started his set with an emotional acoustic performance of “Stay” complete with moody fog and a skull-adorned jacket. He showed off his amazing vocal chops and only made us love him more.

He then lightened the mood with a rendition of “Rockstar” before transitioning into his collab with the Chili Peppers. Malone played guitar with the band for “Dark Necessities” and sang backing vocals.

Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis even took his shirt off during the set, which was somewhat confusing but we didn’t hate it.

Slipknot detail ‘All Hope Is Gone’ 10th anniversary reissue https://www.altpress.com/slipknot-all-hope-is-gone-10th-anniversary-reissue/ Mon, 12 Nov 2018 23:15:09 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/slipknot-all-hope-is-gone-10th-anniversary-reissue/ After dropping their first new song in four years, Slipknot have finally revealed the details behind their upcoming 10th Anniversary Edition reissue of All Hope Is Gone, the linchpin fourth studio album from the masked Iowa metalheads released back in 2008. See the reimagined album cover and tracklist details for the deluxe re-release, below.

The reissue was first revealed by the band earlier this year, and it looks like the Dec. 7 release date will make Slipknot fans quite happy this holiday season. Along with the entire original album, a bonus disc contains the band’s Madison Square Garden performance from February 2009. And preorders for limited edition vinyl bundles are live right now.

The reissue announcement follows a period of renewed activity for the veteran act, a Slipknot-themed haunted house last month making way for vocalist Corey Taylor‘s latest remarks about America. Meanwhile, British pop-punkers Neck Deep paid tribute to the band for Halloween, and Taylor approved of the spirited Slipknot salute.

My Bloody Valentine mail fans bonus ‘Isn’t Anything’ vinyl records https://www.altpress.com/my_bloody_valentine_isnt_anything_reissue_vinyl/ Tue, 20 Feb 2018 01:30:00 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/my_bloody_valentine_isnt_anything_reissue_vinyl/ [Photo by: My Bloody Valentine/Instagram]

Looks like the lucky listeners who got in on the first round of My Bloody Valentine's vinyl reissue preorders for their 1988 debut Isn't Anything received a special surprise in the mail—a bonus, alternate pressing of the record.

Read more: My Bloody Valentine plot first show in 4 years

As detailed by Exclaim!, the pioneering Irish shoegaze band recently unleashed all-analog vinyl reissues of their classic albums Loveless and Isn't Anything. MBV guitarist and figurehead Kevin Shields, a musician known for his audio perfectionism, seemingly tried out a bunch of different pressing plants across multiple countries for the anticipated reissues. That meant the band actually ended up with thousands of “alternate pressing” copies come release time.

Rather than simply destroy a bunch of perfectly good records, Shields and MBV gifted preorder fans with these special vinyl cuts of Isn't Anything along with the actual record reissue. As you can see in the band's Instagram post below, they note that they've already run out of these alternative pressings.

“If you go to a French manufacturer, it's gonna come across a lot softer sounding and warmer than if you go to a British manufacturer, where it's gonna come across a lot more high end,” Shields explains to Rolling Stone of the nuances in vinyl manufacturing. “We literally have a few thousand records lying around. All experiments and failures.”
