The posters depict the characters facing away from the camera, holding tattered umbrellas. They were posted in a thread with the caption “take cover” and a bird emoji. This could be a hint at a conflict with the recently revealed Sparrow Academy. And while Ben (Justin H. Min) is alive in the current timeline, he appears to have been omitted from the recently released posters.

Emmy Raver-Lampman recently said season 3 is “massive” and has a “completely different energy” in an interview with Collider. She also said that although the series is based on graphic novels by Gerard Way, series creator Steve Blackman doesn’t feel beholden to follow the novels exactly. “I think there will always be a connection there, but the further we get into The Umbrella Academy, the TV show, I think it’s finding its own way. It’s finding its own route, which is exciting.”

Gallagher may be known best as Number Five in The Umbrella Academy, but he juggles many other projects outside of the Netflix show. Along with acting, Gallagher is also a musician and has put various singles over the years including “For You,” “I Love You” and, more recently “4th Of July.”

Earlier this week, Gallagher took a break from filming season 3 of The Umbrella Academy to post a brief interview with Way on his YouTube channel. During the first part of their discussion, the duo talked in-depth about recording studio setups and equipment. As well, Way opened up about sharing a recording studio with McKean who is the engineer behind both My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade and Danger Days.

McKean has also worked on Way’s solo music over the years including producing “Dasher,” Way’s 2018 holiday collab with the Regrettes vocalist Lydia Night and 2018’s “Getting Down The Germs” with Ray Toro. He also engineered and produced Way’s debut solo album Hesitant Alien.

Way tells Gallagher that McKean always has great instincts when it comes to recording music. As a result, they often find themselves keeping demos because they just don’t compare to later versions they record.

“I guess everything we’ve [him and Doug] done in a way, it like starts kind of like a demo,” Way tells Gallagher. “But it’s amazing how much of that original tracking carries over to the final track. I think the reason for that is [because] Doug has a really great ear. Even if you’re just doing a demo he takes it super seriously from a sonic perspective, you know? We don’t take ourselves super seriously, but if we’re getting a guitar sound, he wants to make sure it’s a great guitar sound that fits the vibe of what we’re working on. So, he’ll dial that in [and] a lot of times in the past when we’ve tried to re-track things, it doesn’t beat the original.”

Filming for season 3 of The Umbrella Academy only began last month, but plenty of details about the new episodes have already been revealed. In January, fans finally met the actors playing the members of the Sparrow Academy. The powerful group includes six new individuals along with Ben Hargreeves who is completely different from the character fans loved in previous seasons.

No. 1 or Marcus is being portrayed by Justin Cornwell while Justin H. Min’s Ben is returning as No. 2 in the Sparrow Academy. Britne Oldford is portraying No. 3 or Fei and Jake Epstein is taking on the role of Alphonso, also referred to as No. 4. Some fans many recognize Epstein for his long on-screen portrayal as the teen heartthrob Craig Manning on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The Sparrow Academy’s No. 5 or Sloane is being played by Genesis Rodriguez and Cazzie David is Jayme or No. 6. However, the Sparrow Academy’s No. 7 is raising some eyebrows. The final member of the academy is Christopher, an “existential dread-inducing psykronium cube.”

Currently, the actor behind this mysterious cube is unknown. However, Deadline reports that the character will have a voice. All of this has led to speculation Way may finally make his highly-requested cameo in the series and appear as No. 7. So far, however, nothing has been confirmed.

As filming for season 3 got closer, The Umbrella Academy began sharing even more behind-the-scenes details. Back in January, Min confirmed that the first table read-through for the season had happened. Shortly after, Min shared a few videos on Instagram of him uniting with his new Sparrow Academy family for production rehearsals.

When production for the new season finally began, the Sparrow Academy assembled to show off some new attire. All of the members except for the actor voicing Christopher teased the start of filming with matching jackets that have the Sparrow Academy’s logo on the front. Of course, many fans have already seen this new symbol thanks to that difficult season 2 Easter egg hunt.

In mid-February, Elliot Page confirmed he was back on the set of The Umbrella Academy. He posted a cryptic photo of a director’s chair with the new season 3 logo. Page captioned the image with “OMG we’re back again,” which is a reference to Backstreet Boys‘ iconic song “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” It’s also a callback to season 2 when Robert Sheehan’s Klaus incorporated pop song lyrics such as these throughout the episodes.

Last week, Page also opened up about returning to the series’ set after coming out as transgender and non-binary in December. For Blackman, the cast and crew have seen a big change in Page since filming began.

“It seems like there’s a tremendous weight off his shoulders, a feeling of comfort,” Blackman tells Time. “There’s a lightness, a lot more smiling.”

As for My Chemical Romance, they sent fans into a theory frenzy this month when they dropped new merch with Hot Topic. Their latest T-shirts feature a slew of new symbols and imagery that some fans think may be hinting at an upcoming announcement. Shortly after the merch launched at Hot Topic, however, it disappeared from the retailer’s website.

According to the MCR Reddit thread, Hot Topic’s Customer Care said that the merch disappeared online because it sold out quickly. However, some of the items may be available at local locations. As well, it’s unknown if the items will be restocked on Hot Topic’s website in the future.

“Unfortunately, the new merch of My Chemical Romance went out of stock fast, we do not have an estimated time of arrival for these items,” Hot Topic’s Customer Care says in an email. “Since we are not always certain if the items will be coming back online, you are welcome to check inventory at your local store.”

Additionally, one of My Chemical Romance’s U.K. shows was officially postponed. MCR were set to kick off their rescheduled return tour on June 15 in St. Austell, England. However, this Eden Sessions show has now been postponed for the second time. Currently, the Eden Project has not announced a new rescheduled date. As well, it’s unknown if future dates of My Chemical Romance’s return tour may be postponed in the future.

As it stands, My Chemical Romance’s return is set to begin June 17 in Milton Keynes. This date was originally the first show the band announced after their reunion concert in Los Angeles. Due to popular demand, two more shows at Stadium MK were eventually added after the dates quickly sold out. Now, Page has opened up about how filming for The Umbrella Academy has changed since publicly coming out as transgender and non-binary last year.

This month, Page has made history as the first openly transgender man to ever appear on the cover of Time magazine. In the new interview, Page talks about his transition and childhood memories of feeling uncomfortable in his body. As well, Page opens up about returning to the set of The Umbrella Academy.

When Page first learned about the character of Vanya, he instantly identified with her because of how detached she was from the rest of the world.

“I related to how much Vanya was closed off,” Page tells Time.

In just two seasons, viewers have already seen major growth in Vanya. After her suppressed powers took over and ultimately caused the apocalypse in season 1, Vanya manages to find her voice and control her powers in season 2. As a result, Vanya transforms from a character crushed by self-loathing into someone with more self-confidence than ever before.

Similarly, Page’s The Umbrella Academy co-workers have seen a big change in the actor since filming for season 3 began.

“It seems like there’s a tremendous weight off his shoulders, a feeling of comfort,” showrunner Steve Blackman tells Time. “There’s a lightness, a lot more smiling.”

Page further tells Time that returning to the set of The Umbrella Academy has been validating. However, it’s also sometimes awkward as his co-workers adapt to his pronouns.

“It’s going to be an adjustment,” Page says on people addressing him with the wrong pronouns.

Elsewhere in the interview, Page talks about the struggles he faced after the success of Juno. The film, which earned him BAFTA, Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, sent Page into a whole new caliber of fame. As a result, Page felt pressure to act and look a certain way in Hollywood. Eventually, Page began suffering from depression, anxiety and panic attacks as he dealt with society’s expectations to appear feminine.

“[I didn’t know] how to explain to people that even though [I was] an actor, just putting on a T-shirt cut for a woman would make me so unwell,” Page says.

Now, since coming out as transgender and non-binary, Page has received numerous job offers for transgender-related projects. From directing to acting and producing, Page’s team has seen an increase in these offers since Page publicly came out in December. Ultimately, Page’s comfortability with his body has made him look forward to acting more than ever before.

“I’m really excited to act, now that I’m fully who I am, in this body,” Page says. “No matter the challenges and difficult moments of this, nothing amounts to getting to feel how I feel now.”

Back in 2014, Page publicly came out as gay at Time To Thrive, a conference that promotes the welfare of LGBTQIA+ youth.

“I’m here today because I am gay,” Page said during Time To Thrive. “And because maybe I can make a difference, to help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”

Since then, Page has heavily advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community over the years. Just last year, Page called out the Trump administration and the politicization of gay rights in America.

“It’s not a debate, whether Donald Trump is racist or not,” he told the Guardian. “Gay marriage is not a debate. And the media needs to stop claiming it is.”

Then, on Dec. 1, Page publicly came out as transgender and non-binary. In a detailed social media post, the actor thanked everyone for their support and the warmth he’s received from the LGBTQIA+ community.

The post received love from Netflix and The Umbrella Academy on Twitter which reassured fans that Page would return as Vanya in season 3.

Netflix has already made changes to Page’s credits on The Umbrella Academy. Now, Elliot Page appears on both the screen in every episode and in the series’ description. Netflix has also updated all of the descriptions on Page’s other projects on the platform including Inception and Tallulah. Soon after, rumors emerged that Page may not be portraying Vanya Hargreeves in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy. However, both the show and Netflix made it known that that is far from the truth. In fact, eagle-eyed fans have noticed Page’s credits have already been updated on the streaming service.

Back in November, rumors first emerged that production for season 3 was set to begin this February. Soon after, Netflix confirmed that The Umbrella Academy team is getting back together this month to film the new episodes. Now, the cast and crew are revealing even more behind-the-scenes looks at season 3. On Monday, Min shared a video of his Instagram Story with his new-found Sparrow Academy family.

Earlier this month, Netflix officially introduced the new actors joining season 3 as members of the Sparrow Academy. To start, “honest, virtuous and demanding” No. 1 or Marcus is being portrayed by Justin Cornell. Britne Oldford is portraying Fei, No. 3, while Jake Epstein is taking on the role of Alphonso, No. 4, who has “a caustic and biting sense of humor.” Some fans many recognize Epstein for his on-screen portrayal as Craig Manning on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The Sparrow Academy’s “romantic dreamer” No. 5, Sloane, is being played by Genesis Rodriguez and Cazzie David is “loner” Jayme, No. 6. However, the Sparrow Academy’s No. 7 is catching a lot of people’s attention. The final member of the academy is Christopher, an “existential dread-inducing psykronium cube.”

Along with Min, showrunner Steve Blackman also revealed how the cast have bonded while in quarantine. Over the weekend, he shared a photo of a Zoom call with most of the main actors we will see in season 3. According to the caption, a lot of Bingo and drinks were involved in getting the cast acquainted with each other.

In fact, it seems as though sweet old Ben may be gone for good.

“This is not the sweet Ben we know and love,” Deadline reports. “This Ben is a Machiavellian tactician. [He is] wrapped up in a pretty boy body with a rumbling inner-squid [and] determined to gain his status as the leader at all costs.”

Earlier this month, fan theories emerged that Gerard Way could finally make his highly-requested Umbrella Academy cameo as Christopher, one of the Sparrow Academy members. Currently, the actor behind this mysterious cube is unknown. However, Deadline‘s description of No. 7 is raising some eyebrows.

“Christopher is a telekinetic cube of unknown origin,” Deadline says. “He can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear. He acts as the Sparrows’ consulted oracle who hands out incredible advice and serves as the family mediator.”

According to Deadline, the character will have a voice. This has caused fans to theorize that Christopher may be voiced by Gerard Way. Although nothing has been confirmed, this role would the perfect opportunity for Way to make his highly-requested cameo.
