Halsey has shown off her acting skills over the years. She previously appeared on Saturday Night Live and took part in some hilarious sketches. As well, she acted alongside Machine Gun Kelly in Cameron Crowe‘s short-lived series Roadies.

More recently, Halsey made her big-screen cameo in 2018’s A Star Is Born. The award-winning film stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Now, Halsey is set to co-star opposite Euphoria‘s Sydney Sweeney in The Player’s Table. Halsey also will serve as a producer on the project which is now in development.

As Deadline reports, the series takes place at an exclusive Long Island prep school. Jill Newman (Sweeney), a high school senior, works to uncover the truth about her best friend Shaila’s murder. While doing so, she also considers the role both she and her fellow “players,” the members of a secret society that rules the school, may have had in her friend’s death.

Halsey will play Rachel Calloway, an emotionally troubled young woman who ignites Jill’s mission to find the truth behind her friend’s murder. Rachel was once a member of “The Players” and left the group after graduating. As well, she dissociated herself from her wealthy family after her younger brother Graham was convicted for Shaila’s murder.

Rachel returns to Long Island after her brother’s conviction, believing that Graham is innocent. Together, Rachel and Jill work together to uncover the truth of really happened to Shaila and help exonerate Graham before he turns 18.

Both Halsey and Sweeney previously teamed up for the “Graveyard” video. “Graveyard” is one of the lead singles from Halsey’s latest LP Manic. After hitting it off during the video’s shoot, Sweeney reached out to Halsey about the project, hoping to work together again.

At this time, The Player’s Table is in early development. The series doesn’t have a network or platform to call home yet.

See Halsey perform some acoustic renditions for LGBTQ+ benefit show https://www.altpress.com/halsey-lgbtq-acoustic-benefit-show/ Fri, 17 Jul 2020 01:08:47 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/halsey-lgbtq-acoustic-benefit-show/ This week, Halsey teamed up with Magnum Ice Cream for the True To Pleasure show. In celebration of the performance, the company pledged $50,000 to GLSN, an organization that provides LGTBQ students with an educational environment free of judgment and harassment.

Now, after much demand, Halsey’s entire performance has been posted on YouTube.

Halsey recently partnered with Magnum Ice Cream for its latest campaign. The True To Pleasure advertisement includes individuals from all walks of life and encourages everyone to be their most authentic selves. The singer is featured in the company’s new ad which can be seen at the start of the video.

Following Halsey’s partnership with Magnum, she took part in a benefit show for LGBTQ+ students. After much demand from fans, Halsey and Magnum released the full performance online for those who missed it. The video is available on YouTube for the next 24-hours.

“Ok u guys were so cute and nice I asked them to please upload the performance for 24 hours cause some people missed it,” Halsey tweets.

The acoustic performance includes seven songs that have been released recently in Halsey’s career.

Halsey opens up the show with an acoustic performance of “Bad At Love.” The single is off of her 2017 album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. She also performs “Strangers” which appears on the 2017 LP.

Halsey also included some songs off of her latest album Manic which was released earlier this year. “Without Me,” “Finally // Beautiful Stranger,” “Graveyard” and “Alanis’ Interlude” [Morissette] are all included in the setlist. She also performs her recent collab with Marshmello Be Kind.”

Halsey had specific reasons for why she decided to include each song in the setlist.

“When I put this setlist together, I picked some of the songs that, to me, best communicate the feelings of love, loss, longing, and learning,” she says. “And doing all of it in a way that is un-adulterated and unapologetically yourself. That’s a common theme in a lot of my songs.”

Due to the postponement of her Manic World Tour, Halsey has been finding other ways to keep busy over the past few months. She recently announced that she is releasing her first poetry book. As well, she launched the Black Creators Funding Initiative which supports creators in the arts.

Earlier this month, her collab “Life’s A Mess” with late rapper Juice WRLD was released. The song is off of his posthumous album that came out last week. As well, there’s some speculation that Halsey may be releasing a collab with Machine Gun Kelly and blink-182‘s Travis Barker soon.

Halsey’s full LGBTQ+ benefit performance is available to watch below.

10 reasons to be excited for Halsey to drop ‘Manic’ this month https://www.altpress.com/halsey-manic-release-date-trivia/ Tue, 07 Jan 2020 17:55:27 +0000 https://www.altpress.com/halsey-manic-release-date-trivia/ Halsey is gearing up to drop her highly anticipated third album, Manic,  Jan. 17, and we are jumping in our seats in anticipation.

While we’re always excited for new music from the artist, this album truly feels like it’s so meaningful to her. And it’s probably because of all the hype she’s been building leading up to it.

Because we can’t keep it to ourselves, we’ve narrowed down 10 reasons why we are excited for the album. From her already-released singles to her major 2020 touring plans,  check them out below.

1. When she said it was better than Badlands

As Halsey geared up for the new era, the vocalist continued to answer fans’ questions and speculations of the then unannounced album. A few weeks after her first BTS collab “Boy With Luv,” Halsey let a few fans know it would be better than her beloved debut Badlands. However, adding to it, she also revealed what would become Manic was full of songs just like “Gasoline.”

2. When she bid farewell to hopeless fountain kingdom with some major teasers

https://www.instagram.com/p/BxSKzJRhlwt/

Prior to releasing new music, Halsey had to say goodbye to her last album. She performed two intimate shows last May where she played her albums Badlands and hopeless fountain kingdom in full, one each night. Around this time, she was also doing some sketchy stuff on social media that had us wondering if new music was coming until she finally announced her single “Nightmare.” While the song won’t be on the new album, the vocalist definitely got fans stoked with new music as she transitioned to the next album era.

3. When she told us to expect the unexpected

After dropping the first track, Halsey was having a field day teasing her fans. They got a taste of Manic and wanted more, but she let us know that it was going to be unexpected. Also, she said the album was going to be “less dystopian fantasy world and more like, ‘This is what I’m thinking right now: ‘The world sucks. Fuck,’” which only got us more pumped.

4. When she debuted “Graveyard” at Rihanna’s fashion show

During Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show, fans got to hear “Graveyard” for the first time and instantly fell in love. However, there were no phones allowed at the gig, so those who weren’t in attendance were left with vague descriptions about what it could sound like, which drove us crazy. We’re sure this was just the beginning of the surprises of the Manic era.

5. When she announced the album on her own terms

Finally, she released “Graveyard” to the public in September and let us know that her next album was coming very soon. Prior to the premiere of the “Graveyard” video, Halsey gave fans a sneak peek at her creative process where she spent over seven hours painting a beautiful self-portrait that doubles as the Manic album cover, which was basically the most Halsey album announcement ever.

6. When she announced a tour with Pale Waves

https://www.instagram.com/p/B2vw4SBJfSZ/

Then, not only were we treated with news of a Manic world tour, but she revealed Pale Waves would be supporting her on the first leg. Basically, it was a dream come true, and we can’t wait until more tour legs are revealed.

7. When she celebrated her birthday with a single

To honor turning 25, Halsey dropped “clementine” featuring her dancing with her brother Sevian Frangipane in an aquarium. It was less hyped than the other singles she had dropped, which only made us love the surprise more.

8. When she performed “Graveyard” at the AMAs

At the AMAs, Halsey performed an interpretive dance to “Graveyard” while showing off her vocal chops. She channeled her video for the track and painted the fellow dancer and herself while singing. The vocalist has continued to embrace the paint theme throughout her awards show performances and obviously the album reveal, which we hope she brings to her tour.

9. When she dropped two singles, including a BTS collab

A little over a month before the album’s release date, she released “Finally // beautiful stranger” and her collab with BTS‘s SUGA, “SUGA’s Interlude”. “Finally // beautiful stranger” includes a powerful music video exploring the dichotomy of fame and love in an old-time club. While the Bring Me The Horizon collab didn’t end up on Manic (but rather the band’s EP), Halsey revealed the SUGA collab was the first of many on the album. Teaming up with Dominic Fike (“Dominic’s Interlude”) and Alanis Morissette (“Alanis’ Interlude”), Halsey revealed that each collab represents a different part of her personality. If anything, Halsey’s videos kept proving that she didn’t come to play in the H3 era.

10. When she was announced as Saturday Night Live’s first 2020 musical guest
